How to use a Hack-Saw

Hack-Saw is a cutting tool used for cutting metal pieces, wide grooves etc. It consists of a metal frame fitted with handle made of wood. A blade of suitable size is fitted to the frame as shown below –

Usually the blade manufactured are 8inch, 10inch and 12inch, The blade has bent teeth. As the blade is to cute the metal in the forward stroke, the teeth should point away from the handle. The blade should be suitably tightened. Apply pressure on the forward stroke and release pressure on the return stroke. While cutting, coolant may be used. 40 -50 strokes per minute is enough for good hack-sawing.
